It’s been a while since I’ve interviewed more small local businesses, and I am so happy to introduce to you all: Unique and Chic!! The CUTEST furniture and prop rental store in all of Kitsap County! Guys, I rent from Unique and Chic as often as I can, because going into their store makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. So many pretty things to inspire you! Eeek!

Holly (pictured below) and her mother Gayle officially started up this booming business in late 2014, and ever since they have been inspiring their clients with their beautifully stocked storefront.

I asked Holly she enjoys most, she says “I love to design! No matter what it is, a tablescape, floral design or the overall theme for an event! And what inspires me most in my business is knowing how many customers we have been able to help make one of the most important days in their lives beautiful. We strive to make it easy and fun for our customers to add the perfect touches to their day!”

Keilah: “What piece of party styling advice would you give your clients?”
Holly: “Bigger is better and less is more! Sounds kind of weird and contradictory but what I mean is if you are styling a table for example, instead of doing a bunch of small little details use a couple of larger pieces (preferably garnished with some kind of floral or greens) to make a bigger statement and feel more put together.”

Keilah: “What part of the business brings you the greatest joy?”

Holly: “I get most excited when the event’s decor is completed and everything has come together and I can stand back and watch others enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance the design and decor.”

Keilah: “What is a common mistake that most people make when planning their parties?”

Holly: ” I’ve found that often times people think that purchasing and making their own decor will save them money. The truth is that DIYing can end up running them more cost wise and especially time wise. You have to consider the time it takes to shop for and purchase the items, store the items before and after the event and the time to resell them if that is the plan. Rarely will you get the money back that you paid for the items. Renting makes a lot more since because the price is significantly less than the purchase price usually and there is none of the storage concerns.”
